Okay, so we all know by now that there are some serious changes concerning Pride here in Fayetteville. There was a general announcement regarding our withdrawal from Inception's Pride Week. For various reasons, the Alliance, Black Linen Entertainment, and iGay TV decided to withdraw from that event and do a smaller, more community based and affordable Pride celebration. We wish the folks at Inception well.
Since making this decision and moving forward with our plans, things have fallen into place beautifully. We have had an amazing offer from a local church with an immense space for some of our events and they are being absolutely wonderful. We are so looking forward to cultivating a regular working relationship with them on community help issues and are so grateful for their generosity to the LGBTQ community here. We will be posting more information and a Pride Celebration Itinerary soon. Keep an eye out for it on our website www.thealliancenc.net.
We will have events for all ages and personality types. Most of the events we have planned are free and the few that will have charges associated will be kept to rates as reasonable as we can make them. Everyone involved is working hard to make this celebration a fun and unifying event for our community. We all feel a strong sense of love and loyalty for our community here and feel they are deserving of the best possible Pride we can provide. The hope, of course, is to be able to make things bigger and better every year. This area has a broad and loving LGBTQ community and bringing them together to support one another is the ultimate goal of the organizations involved with this Pride. We sincerely hope that all of you will be a part of making the goal a reality.
We will soon be calling for volunteers to help with some of our events. Please come out to support your community in any way you can. Any kind of help is welcome! If you can sponsor pride with material for rainbow flags, volunteer your time, or simply provide a pack of paper plates, all attempts at support are welcome and absolutely no gesture is too small. There is contact information on our website, our Facebook group page, and I will have Storm Silvermane (our esteemed president) post a roster of email addresses and contact numbers for anyone interested in contributing to United Fayetteville Pride! We can't wait to see you all at the events and enjoying all our community has to offer!
Thanks,
Angel (VP)
